Configuring Exception Support

To open this page in RTX64 Control Panel:

1. In the Start menu, navigate to RTX64 4.5 Runtime and click RTX64 Control Panel.
2. Click Configure the RTSS Subsystem > Configure Exception Support.

To use RTX64 structured exception handling for all exception types, select the Use Structured Exception Handling box. To turn off Structured Exception Handling, click to clear the Use Structured Exception Handling box.

The ability to freeze a faulting process is useful during application development and debugging. When a process is frozen, the user is responsible for terminating the process.

Select an option for how the Subsystem should behave when a faulting process occurs:

• Freeze the Faulting Process allows you to freeze the process and keep its image for debugging.
• Terminate the Faulting Process causes all faulting processes to terminate.
• Halt System and Dump Memory causes RTX64 to return the exception context to Windows, display a green screen with debug information, and start a memory dump.

IMPORTANT! The Halt System and Dump Memory option is not compatible with debugging. To debug an RTSS application, you must select Use Structured Exception Handling.
